My previous learning experiences

I live in Turkey so that means I go to school there. I am currently a university student and I study teaching English as a foreign/second language. Since the day I started to university I've been thinking about my own teachers an my own learning experiences. I've seen a lot of teachers but those who I saw in primary school was the ones that got me thinking. I've always struggled with mathematics then in grade 6 it got a lot worst. Our teacher was also our principle so that means he didn't get a lot of time to actually teach us because he was always busy with the paperwork. However, when he was in class he used to make fun of students and humiliate while teaching the subject. Everybody was trying not to make an eye contact with him and there was this awkward silence whenever he was in the classroom. The atmosphere he created in the class was so uncomfortable that we used to wish he didn't show up to the class at all. Therefore this experience did no good to me in terms of academic success. My parents decided that it would be a lot better if  I worked with a tutor. So I handle math by myself (of course with the help of tutors and courses) in my entire school life. But that was not the only experience I have. In grade 4 we started to study English for the first time and I was both excited and scared. When the teacher came to the class she immediately started to speak English but we weren't intimidated at all thanks to the techniques and materials she used we were somehow able to understand her. The class atmosphere was friendly and comfortable. I was looking forward to study English. I remember that I used to count how many days left for my English class. Thanks to her I loved the language and also loved the learning process. I had no idea that I actually love learning languages and communicating until I met her. I think I choose my major because of her and I cannot wait to teach English the way she did.
